Overview Webinar: What is Structured Professional Judgment (SPJ)? (FREE)

Structured Professional Judgment (SPJ) was coined as a term in the threat assessment field 25 years ago for guidelines developed to structure the exercise of professional discretion. There has been renewed interest in and attention to SPJ by those engaging in Behavioural Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM). However, there is a great deal of confusion about what it is and what it is not. This overview webinar will 1) discuss the essential nature and core components of SPJ guidelines, 2) share best practices about the development and evaluation of SPJ guidelines, and 3) provide examples of guidelines that are SPJ and guidelines that are not SPJ and discuss the practical, professional, and legal implications of calling something an SPJ guideline when it is not.
